The joy of learning

Meet our 2024 Volunteers

Commune Summer School is built on the back of its volunteers. In 2024, we had an amazing volunteer pool from the American University of Cairo, New Giza University & STEM schools.

We are always looking for volunteer English & Computer tutors and teaching assistants. It is a unique experience to serve the community, connect with a great pool of students and volunteering team and get exposed to a large set of responsibilities.

You’ll make a meaningful impact in our community, get exposed to Egypt’s rural culture, will help students achieve their academic goals while gaining valuable teaching & community service experience. You will connect with a diverse group of fellow volunteers, building lasting friendships and professional networks and be a part of a passionate community with a unique shared experience.

P.S. Transportation or accomodation would be provided.

About THE PROGRAM

Cutting-Edge Curriculum

The English curriculum is based on in-class videos blended with papers and class engagement and discussions. Giving students a unique opportunity to improve their listening, speaking and collaboration skills. In the Computer curriculum yound students learn Microsoft Office while older students learn C++, students are supplied with robotic Arduino materials to develop their own robots getting hands-on practical experience.

Exceptional Teachers

Our teachers aren’t just educators—they’re mentors who spark curiosity and ignite a love for learning. With engaging classes and interactive activities, they encourage critical thinking & personal growth. The mission of our teachers is not to cram information but rather to guide students the tools and processes they need to navigate a path of self-learning that can empower their education journey beyond the program.

Peer-led Interactive Learning

Peer-led interactive learning fosters collaboration among excellent students and increases their self learning capabilities & communication skills. Our student community is cautiously crafted to be academically excellent, with only ~40% of applicants accepted into the program. Being part of an exclusive, competitive student-pool raises the self-standards of students and motivates them to push for their full potential.
